Vendée
Vendée is located on the French Atlantic coast, north of La Rochelle and South of Brittany. The region's name was changed to Vendée after the French Revolution in 1789 and comes from name of the river of that runs through the south-east of the region.
Vendée is a stunningly beautiful part of France; a complimentary mixture of coast-line and countryside. The area is the 2nd sunniest in France due to it having a microclimate, similiar to that of the Cote d'Azur, the result being a staggering average 2500 hours of glorious sunshine annually.
There are plenty of activities to keep everyone busy; theme parks, castles, golf courses, 140 km of sandy beaches and hundreds of ambling footpaths, zig-zagging through the fantastic unspoilt countryside. Vendée really does have it all!
